At 44 years old wit 12% alcohol, the 1975 Lungarotti Rubesco Riserva co;st under $15 back then and now scored 18 points on the dionysian scale of a possible 20.
Orange-edged, filled with wild strawberry notes mixed with herbs and spice over oak and smoky tobacco, the wine, from Torgiano, was the last bottle I had.
It can be drunk after five to ten years, but I find it is special at 15 to 20 years old. Torgiano is a few miles south of Perugia in Umbria. It was one of the first Italian wines I began to collect and cellar. I should have gotten more.
This was bottle number 525 of the very limited 1975 vintage. In Vino Veritas.
