Costing about $15, with 13.5% alcohol and scoring an excellent 17 points on the Dionysian scale, the 2009 Rodney Strong Chardonnay from Sonoma County is made in a European style with less oak  and a balanced acidity with fruit notes.

Enjoyable with food or as a cocktail wine. I was honored to do a full hour radio show with Rodney Strong some years back. He was delightful.

RS wines could sell for much more. Mr. Srong bought his land cheaply decades ago. Too many wines are so expensive because you’re paying for the bank loan  on the land too. Most of the advanced Dionysians drink Rodney Strong wines. The wine has ripe apple, peach, and subtle hints of tropical fruits all balanced nicely.  In Vino Veritas.
