With 13.5% alcohol and scoring 17 points on the Dionysian scale of 20, the 2009 Late Harvest Santa Alicia Muscatel, from the Limari Valley in Chile, is a charming dessert wine.

Served with pineapple and chocolate, the wine is balanced, with tropical fruit aromas, and enough acid to disperse the sweetness after you swallow it.

Dessert wines should enhance, not over-power a dessert.

The RS (Residual Sugar) was 95.57 grams per liter. Sweet! It was harvested at 31 Brix and comes only in 500 ml bottles.  That’s all you need.

Dessert wines are a treasure and few people end their dining evenings with them. Seek this one out, and end your next meal like royalty. In vino veritas.
