With 14% alcohol, the 2013 Herdade Do Esporao Late Harvest Colheita Tardia dessert wine scored 18 points on the 20-point Dionysian scale.  It was deep gold, smelled like honeysuckle and over-ripe peach, and had enough acid to clean away nicely. Few good dessert wines cost under $13 like this one.

375 ml bottles of dessert wine are all you need.

The wine comes from Vinho Regional Alentejano in Portugal, and at six years old, it is just starting to mature. Another five years for perfection. Any time you see the words “Late Harvest” on a label, they’re telling you the wine is for dessert. Enjoy one. In Vino Veritas.
