Highlighting two wines from Croatia at one: The 2017 Putalj Kastelanski Crljenak is a Zinfandel. It has 15% alcohol, made in a Californian style and scored 16 points, while costing about $12. The white wine is made from a rare local grape called Grk. The 2018 Zure Grk has 13.5% alcohol, cost under $12, and scored an interesting 16+ Dionysian points.
The red has pepper, spice, and black fruits like all Zins. The white is fuller than Pinot Grigio, but lighter than a Sauvignon Blanc. It has grapefruit and lemon notes with mineral wet stone flavors. Ideal with game.
The Grk is an ideal summer wine and is not available in America. Croatia has wines for every occasion. Seek some out. In Vino Veritas.

The Grk is good with game? Surprising.
