Showing a delightful watermelon scent, with 12.5% alcohol, and costing under $15, the 2018 Villa La Vie En Rose from Lionel Osmin & Cie scored 17 points on the Dionysian scale of a possible 20.

It made south of Bordeaux and produced from 100% of the Negrette grape. That’s not a common one. It comes out of the mountains between France and Spain.

The wine has citrus too, and clean acidity for a food wine. It’s pink salmon color is charming. I’ve served this wine for a few years now, and from three vintages and all have been good. It’s the perfect summer drink. In Vino Veritas.
