Scoring 18+ points on the 20-point Dionysian scale, the 45 North Vineyard & Winery 2013 Riesling Ice Wine from the Old Mission Peninsula in Lake Leelanau, Michigan, cost under $75, and at 9.5% alcohol, it’s the perfect dessert wine.

It’s as good or better than many of the hundred dollar bottles of German Ice Wine.

The wine was harvested at 40 Brix and has 21 Brix of Residual Sugar. It’s balanced nicely with natural acid and not cloying.  It’s a wine to inquire about and it will age gracefully for decades.   The 45th Latitude is ideal for growing Riesling.  In vino veritas.
