Scoring 16+ Dionysian points out of 20, ( a 90 on wine magazine scales) the Nodus Merlot Delirium cost under $20, has 13.5% alcohol and is made by Bodegas de Utiel. It’s a multi-vintage wine with no date on the label.

We paired it with a mild chili and it proved itself to be an excellent food wine. Filled with black fruits and vanilla from the oak. It is smooth and balanced with a long aftertaste. Nice. We had bottle number 1626 out of the 13,000 produced; just short of 1100 cases for the world.

Homemade chili topped with cheddar was tasty after each sip of the Nodus Merlot.

The winery is near Valencia, Spain and makes a full line of excellent food wines as well as an interesting Cava.  Seek out the Merlot Delirium. In vino veritas.
