With an easy drinking 9.5% alcohol, the NV Rei do Minho Vinho Verde scored 17+ points, and cost under $12 three years ago. Vinho Verde is not green wine, it comes from a greener region of Portugal. Citrus, lime, and orange peal fill the nose.
It was served with a chicken & rice soup with an enormous salad. Delightful on the first day of spring.
The wine had some spritz that helped refresh the palate and made the fruits show off in your mouth. I resolved to drink a lot more Vinho Verde this year. In Vino Veritas.
