The 1980 Monsanto Chianti Classico, with 12.5% alcohol, scored 18 points on the 20-point Dionysian scale. It cost under $10 back then and at 36 years old, it was nearly perfect. This is a wine I will buy again (the latest vintage) and age a decade.

Monsanto has been a favorite of mine for three decades and is the perfect Italian food wine.

Mature wines are like mature women; they just keep getting better.  In Vino Veritas.
