With 12% alcohol, the 2002 Mayne Sansac White Bordeaux scored 16 points on the 20-point Dionysian Scale. A Silver Medal at least! It cost under $15 and it proved that well made white wine can age a decade or more. This 13-year-old Bordeaux has 50% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Semillon and 25% Muscadelle.

Red Snapper, cooked on a grill by Sean Mahoney, paired very well with the White Bordeaux.

The wine was still crisp with floral and fruity notes (from the Muscadelle) and it showed the elegance and finesse that only Bordeaux can provide.  Hints of fig came from the Semillon. It was medium to full bodied and the decade of rest helped developed a level of complex aromas that made you interrupt eating with long breaks to savor the aromas. In vino veritas.
