Few wines can pair better with shellfish than Muscadet and the 2009 Domaine Le Fay D’Homme Muscadet Serve et Maine hit the target perfectly!

The wine scored 16+ on the Dionysian 20-point scale. It is aging some and they’re best before eight years old. Muscadet should be drunk early, but it can age a bit when it’s Sur Lie, like this one was. Lying on the dead yeast (sur lie) lets it pick up a creaminess around the citrus and mineral flavors of this very dry white wine.

The best Muscadets note ,”Serve et Maine,” after the grape’s name. Muscadet is really the Melon grape, and aside from the Burgundy region, it grows best at the mouth of the Loire River. Costing less than $10, the Le Fay D’Homme is an ideal wine for Seafood meals.

This wine refreshes the palate and brings out all the shellfish flavors. In vino veritas.
