At only five years old, the 2011 Concannon Petite Sirah is one of California’s best with regards to that varietal. A balanced 13.5% alcohol made this a nice food wine. Its hint of black pepper and black fruits were refreshing.

Chicken Parm, pasta and salad were all the wine needed to show off its power and quality. It is a very drinkable wine.
Concannon is in the Livermore Valley in California, and dates back to 1863. This 5-year-old could age another 10 years. They make wines to pair with meals. They cost under $20 and many of their line cost under $15. Seek them out if you like wine with food; well, “wine is food; it’s the liquid part of every meal!” In vino veritas.
