The 2012 Bulgarian Gurgozone Pinot Noir from the Danube Plain has 13.5% alcohol, cost under $18, and scored 16+ points on the 20-point Dionysiain Scale. It’s made to satisfy the American palate; big fruit up front, and soft tannins; less of a food wine, and more of an easy drinking party wine.

I’ve been to Bulgaria and have tasted their indigenous wines which are nice; and all the samples I’ve had from Burgozone are well make and easy to drink. This Chateau is makeing wine for the Western taste.
The wine had big red fruits, cherry & red raspberry with subtle oak on the finish. It is medium weight and has a medium aftertaste. Try one. Most Dionysian Society members have sat through a seminar with Burgozone wines a few years back, and liked them all. In Vino Veritas.
