The 33 year-old Sauternes scored 19 Dionysian Points. With 13% alcohol and costing under $24 back then, the 1983 Chateau Doisy Daene Second Growth Sauternes was exceptional, ripe, and nearing peak.

This Sauternes was served with egg custard and their flavors married together perfectly! Wines like this develop a complex mix of flavors that only older wines can offer.
The wine was filled with honey, apricot and herbal notes. It was full-bodied and I’m certain , even as it peaks, it will continue to hold at peak for another two decades. In Vino Veritas.
