This 13% alcohol Tempranillo wine called El Furioso  from the Spanish Castilla y Leon region was designed for food. Costing about $9, I’m finding it can age and the case is nearly gone. The 2009 El Furioso is just starting to peak.

A simple red with that has a job to highlight the flavors of the food.

It is made by Hujos de Antinio Barcelo S.A. It’s color is dark ink , with black fruit aromas with the usual hint of spice that the Tempranillo provides. It has plum and blackberry aromas that marry with the entire meal. It makes the sun-dried cherries taste very sweet.

The purple garnish flower grows wild in the back yard. The wine scored a nice 14+ on the Dionysian 20 point scale.  It’s a meal that Dionysian Dr. Jim Hemseath of Ohio would have loved! In vino veritas.
