Scoring 19.9 Dionysian points on their scale of 20, the 118 year-old-wine had held. With 12% alcohol, and costing $850 back in 1989, it had cigar aroma, complex earthy notes, and even still had some light red fruits on the nose and taste. A rare 1900 Chateau Talbot Fourth Growth from the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. It held together a full half an hour after decanting. The wine was re-corked 35 years ago.
This was the feature wine for some Dionysian Members. It was held at Union Park in Cape May, New Jersey, USA , and the main entree was lamb chops which paired perfectly.
Chateau Talbot is from St. Julien in the Modoc region of Bordeaux. I recently enjoyed 2010 Talbot seems to have the same potential. In Vino Veritas.

I had the unique pleasure of sharing this wine with John and fellow Dionysians. Quite fabulous for a 100 plus year old wine! A bouquet of red fruits still there with a long palate. I must say I was quite amazed at how well the wine held.
And it went perfectly with the lamb chops.
