At 50 years old, the 1968 Chateau Pape Clement scored 18+ remarkable Dionysian points out of 20 for a wine from what was considered a lesser year. It had 12% alcohol and cost under $15 on release. Today, Pape Clement cost over $100 on release.
It was decanted just prior to drinking and surprised us all. It continued to open for nearly an hour.

Drunk at 50 years old for a 50th Anniversary, the wine had tobacco, cigar box, even dark red fruit aromas. It was smooth as silk.
The cork was nearly soaked to its top. It was savored with a large selections of foods and even showed well with bits of raison bread.
Great wines should be shared with great people and it was. In Vino Veritas.
