Scoring 18+ points on the 20-point Dionysian scale, the 1969 Aloxe-Corton, a red Burgundy, from B&G was outstanding. At 47 years old, the wine has peaked. It was bought on November 11, 1974 for $8.79. Today’s releases are ten times that cost.
The wine was soft as silk; it still had a long smoky finish with hints of red fruits. The color had faded to a light school house brick with an orange edge. It kissed your palate and you drank it slowly. Pinot noir can sometimes show remarkable flavors, and they do age. In vino veritas.
