With 12.% alcohol, the 1970 Grand Cur Classe Chateau Cos Labory scored 19 points on the Dionysian 20-point scale. It was at peak! Soft as silk. Red fruit still lingering within tobacco and leather notes. It was made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

This chateau was one of the 61 top Bordeaux classified in 1855. It comes from Saint-Estephe in the Medoc, a village known for long-lasting red wines: wines that take decades to mature and this was worth the wait. It was drunk with Dionysian Society members at their celebration of the signing of the Maga Carta 800 years ago and the tribute featured a dozen different food selections.

It went best with nut-coated goat cheese balls  built around apricot and fig chunks.  It was purchased on December 20, 1974 and lay sleeping since then. Wines like these are to be shared with wine friends. None are now available, so a price , well over $100, is impossible to secure. In vino veritas.
