With 12% alcohol and costing under $45, the 1989 Chateau Le Gay scored 18 points on the 20-point Dionysian scale.

This is one of the top Pomerol wines. As expected for the Right Bank, the Le Gay is mostly Merlot which makes it an easy wine to pair with food. It had leather and lingering black fruits. It was medium weight and had a long aftertaste.

Serving a great Bordeaux with a basic hot dog and baked beans may seem understated, but it worked and made the simple dish seem quite special. Try it.

Pomerol wines are always softer than the  Medoc  examples. It’s where new Bordeaux drinks should being.  In vino veritas.
