Scoring 16 points on the Dionysian scale, the 2004 Sauvion Vouvray from the Loire Valley in France cost under $18, has 11.5% alcohol and with just a touch of residual sugar, it is a fine food-wine. Newly released Vouvray is filled with fruit and charming; I like to age them a bit; five to eight years works.

Atlantic sole, home-grown garden peas and French Lentils suited the wine nicely. It made a simple dinner into a feast.

Made with Chenin Blanc grapes from the village of Vouvray along the Val de Loire, it has tropical fruit, melon, and a flora nose that was charming. The Vouvray was balanced and had enough acid to refresh your palate. The best part was its low11.5% alcohol.  In vino veritas.
