The Greek 2006 Amethystos has an ideal 12.5% alcohol, cost 10 Euros and scored a very good 15+ Dionysian points on their 20-point scale.

It’s a regional dry white from Drama made predominately from Sauvignon Blanc with some Semillon and the Greek Asyrtico.

Dry & clean like white Bordeaux, not New Zealand or Californian style, it is a great food wine.

Amethystos comes from low yield vineyards producing good acid and a fruity floral nose.If you’re a real foodie, you have to seek out European lower alcohol wines that marry with, not try to dominate, your meals. In vino veritas.

Dionysian, Tad Naprava of Kanas City, would rave about this pairing because of his discriminating taste. The wine melted into the sweet braised onions and tender pork loin. The wine had the power to refresh your mouth after tasting the garlic butter and sweet potato.  It also worked with the salad.
