Hats off to the 2006 Leon Beyer Pinot Blanc from Alsace scored 16+ Dionysian points, cost about $16, had, as they list it: 11% to 14% alcohol, and was charming.

The wine, at eleven years old, held up very well because of its natural acidity. It drinks well from three to ten years and gains complexity.
Wine has been grown in this area since the Fourth Century. Leon Beyer is on the French side of the Rhine River along side of the Vosges Mountains. The wine had floral aromas, was medium weight and provided a long clean finish making it an ideal food white.
The Beyer’s have made wine in Alsace since 1580, and they’ve got it down perfectly. Pinot Blanc suits more dishes than most Chardonnays. Try some. In Vino Veritas.
