The 2007 La Pisara Salento Primitivo IGT has 13% alcohol, cost about $15 and scored a pleasant 15 points on the 20-point Dionysian scale.

A light alcohol Primitivo paired well with shrimp, pasta and home-grown peas.

Unlike the high alcohol California Zinfandel, the Italian Primitivo, (the source of Zinfandel) gets soft as it ages and this 10 year old was peaking to perfection. It’s a charming food wine.

Primitivo is getting higher in alcohol so look carefully before you buy them. La Pisara is designed for food.

The vintage date is on the back label. God knows why? I like to easily get all the necessary data before buying. In vino veritas.
