The 2009 Educated Guess Chardonnay from Napa Valley cost $15,  and scored just 13 points on the Dionysian scale of a possible 20.  Its 14.5% alcohol and lower natural acid prevented it, like most high alcohol wines, from aging gracefully. The wine was easy drinking for three years, but at eight years old, which isn’t very much, it turned way too gold instead of yellow, lost its nose and had too much of a sherry nose already.

The label is unique and I’ve used this wine for educational tastings. Wine has to be fun if you want to continue learning about it. Share your knowledge.

I want to apologize to all my viewers for not being able to post any reviews for over two months now. I was in South Africa touring its vineyards, all of which are exceptional. I will bring you up to date on my experiences with older wines as quickly as possible.

The Educated Guess was cellared and bottled by “Roots Run Deep Winery” of St. Helena, California. Next time I get some, I’ll drink them quickly. In Vino Veritas.
