The 2009 Joseph Carr Cabernet Sauvignon cost under $20, has 14.1% alcohol, scored 15 points on the Dionysian scale of 20 and was enjoyable.

This Sonoma County winery sells their Napa Cab as their feature wine. It is good. Filled with black fruits, and a hint of spicy oak, it works with food much better than for just sipping. The tannins are strong; maybe some age will help?

When a label says “Blended and bottled by…” it means they didn’t make it. I remember these Carr wines tasting much better a few years back.

With food, the wine did its job and helped the meal show off.

The wine helped the steak, but the cous cous with carrot and orange juice helped the flavor and the finish of the wine.

At nearly eight years old, the wine could have used another two or three to soften, but it’s almost as good as it will ever get. In vino veritas.
