At six years old, the 2009 San Telmo Esencia Torrontes from Mendoza, Argentina  had 13.5% alcohol, cost near $12 and scored 16+ points on the 20-point Dionysian Scale.

It was paired to the traditional 7 fishes Christmas dinner (a little early) and it married with every course!

The Torrontes grape, fro Spain, found a better home in Argentina. Usually drunk when purchased, the six years gave it time to enhance the floral and citrus flavors.

The “Esencia” line shows the “soul and spirit’ of the place. It was rounded out with a touch of oak which was another reason I let it age a bit. A unique experience. In vino veritas.
