The bottle of 2011 Chateau Loumelat Bordeaux has 13% alcohol and is a blend of 80% Merlot, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. It slept for 12 months in oak barrels. The wine was a gift from Baron Francois, for attending their Annual Portfolio Tasting in New York City. They’re an importer who brings in 1.2 million bottles a year from more than 80 suppliers from the Old World and New World. The 375.ml sell for apx. $10 . Perfect for lunch or dinner at home for two people.

The 2011 Bordeaux vintage, according to my review two years ago, was a very weak one. Bad weather and rain provided Bordeaux with green tea notes and a stemy aftertaste, but the Loumelat scored 14+ on the Dionysian scale of 20. An acceptable wine to drink now.

Served with a hamburger and fries during a rushed, very early dinner, it satisfied. What more can you ask of a wine and quick meal.
