Costing under $18, with 13.4% alcohol, and scoring a solid 15 Dionysian points, the 2012 Unionville Vineyards Viognier from Amwell Ridge is an estate bottled New Jersey wine.
At six years old, it was round, balanced and had just a hint of honeysuckle on the nose. It will hold another two or three years but is at peak.
This wine proves that the Rhone grape, Vioignier can do very well in New Jersey. The winery is in the central Jersey town of Ringoes in what they call the Colonial Crescent. Try some. In Vino Veritas.
