Cherry aromas, laced with spices, vanilla, and hints of chocolate flow from this wine. The 2013 Banfi Chianti Classico Riserva, cost under $24, has 13% alcohol, and scored 16+ Dionysian points out of 20. Well done.

At just six years old, the wine has another decade to mature and show off.

This is a great food wine. Low alcohol, almost perfectly ready to drink, and well-balanced, this Chianti was served with traditional pasta.

It is only released after at least 28 months of aging. This Riserva style shows what a little extra times can do for a fine food wine.  Seek some out. Age a few and enjoy the others this year. In Vino Veritas.
