The 2013 Gusbourne Brut Reserve cost $36 and has 12% alcohol. It is a British sparkling wine made in the Champagne Method. It scored 17 Dionysian points out of 20.

It’s 18% Chardonnay, 55% Pinot Noir and 27% Pinot Meunier; a classic blend. Toasty, balanced acid and showing mineral, French bread, and white flower notes.

Served at as opener for dinner with salted almonds and olives. A classic starter.

The sparkling wine is very good. England made champagne style wines in the early 1800’s, but returned to them only recently as the farm areas have warmed up. Worth the money and unique as well. After dinner, I felt forced to read my favorite British poets from the 1800’s. Seek this out. In Vino Veritas.
