This wine comes from the New Zealand Marlborough region. The 2014 Matua Sauvignon Blanc scored a very good 16 Dionysian Point out of 20; it had a clean 13% alcohol, and cost about $10.

This is one of the best buys among all the New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs  made there.  The name is from the New Zealand Maori people for “Head of the Family” and the wine does lead a meal. I’ve spent time with the Maori in New Zealand and they love cooking and family. We cooked over steam from the earth.

A very nice vintage and a wine made to pair with food.

Grown at 41 degrees S and 173 degrees E, the location is perfect for Sauvignon Blanc.  Its citrus is clean and the aftertaste is long and refreshing. All seafood would be perfect. In vino veritas.

Instead of seafood, we did Chicken stuffed with prosciutto, string beans and butternut squash with grapes and onions and celery. It was refreshed with the Sauvignon Blanc.
