A good Martin Scott Selection with 13.5% alcohol, the 2016 Avancia Cuvee’ de O Godello from Galicia, Spain cost under $18, and scored 16+ points on the Dionysian scale of a possible 20. It’s a DO wine from the Valdeorras area.

Refreshing minerality, with a long, clean aftertaste, the Godello grape shows ripe pear and citrus aromas. I think this grape can easily replace Sauvignon Blanc at most meals.

Served with white fish and a garden salad. The label shows the terrior of the growing area.

There are so many great grapes that make outstanding wines; don’t be stuck with your same old favorites. Spain provides food whites and reds at still sensible prices. This example if 100% Godello. They’ll mature nicely for five to seven years. In Vino Veritas.
