At 13% alcohol, the 2016 Castillo de Monseran Granacha scored 15 fine points on the 20-point Dionysian scale. Ruby red, the wine is fresh with good acidity for food. It’s from Carinena and must have another grape blended in. It cost under $16 and has an herbal wild cherry nose with some spices showing nicely.

It’s only four years old and made to drink you, but I’ll go through the case slowly and I’ll bet this wine matures to be quite complex. It is balanced right now and with half an hour of air, it smooths out. In Vino Veritas.
