For about $19, with 12% alcohol, the 2017 Sofia Brut Rose’, from Francis Ford Coppola scored 17 points on the Dionysian scale of a possible 20.

Pleasantly petulant, with bing cherry aromas over subtle spices, the sparkling Californian wine was ideal for a hot summer’s day dinner. We used it prior to the meal with almonds, and also with the meal.

Not as dry as CAVA, or Brut Champagne, but still not a sticky sweet Monterey pink wine. It was absolutely refreshing with salted almonds and again with the salmon dish.

Named for Coppola’s daughter, this sparklier is a definite party wine and ideal for gifs! I received mine from Dionysian Andrea Daniel for attending her new house opening party. Dionysian class for the host to give gifts. In Vino Veritas.
