With13.5% alcohol, the 2007 Vinedos Folatre Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile scored 15+ points as a good food wine. It could have used another two or three years in the cellar.
The D.O. is the Curico Valley, a fine location for Cabs. It has cherry and smoky French oak aromas and some black fruits on the nose. It paired well with turkey sausage, sweet potato and onions with green and yellow string beans, with just-picked Jersey tomato and basil, all from a home garden. For under $16, it’s an excellent buy. Cellar some. In vino veritas.
