At 33 years old, this 1982 Chateau Corbin Bordeaux from Montagne St. Emilion, was an ideal dinner wine. It cost about $15 back then, and now scores 18 Dionysian points out of 20!  A Gold medal wine. Filled with new leather and some Cavendish tobacco with black fruits still remaining, the wine was soft as silk. It was decanted one hour before serving.

Cream of Cauliflower soup garnished with bacon ships married so well with the old Bordeaux that I plan to try it with guests.

With just 12% alcohol, the wine was balanced and proved that you don’t need all the excessive heat from too many modern new world wines. In vino veritas.

Of course 1982 was a great Bordeaux year, but nearly every Bordeaux vintage can use some aging. This Right Bank example still showed its Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
