The 2011 Amancaya Gran Reserva Malbec & Cabernet Sauvignon scored 17 points. It has 14.5% alcohol. It cost under $20 US dollars. At just six years old, the wine is a baby. It could age another decade or more. Black raspberry, cherry, oak, and chocolate aromas rise as it airs.

This wine is owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) and is made like a French Bordeaux wine. Ideal with any red meat dish; I drank it with a grilled steak just as they do in Mendoza, where it’s from. I first tasted it while in Argentina with the Dionysian Society.
The wine is balanced with 50% Malbec and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon; they do work well together. It is an elegant dinner wine and softens from tannins after an hour of air while in the glass. Pour it early. Get a few bottles and age them.
In Vino Veritas.
