Drinking 46 year-old-wine is a study in itself. Old Barolo has the classic dried rose pedal and road tar aromas. This one was just over peak and with 13.5% alcohol it scored a 15 on the Dionysian Scale of 20.The 1969 Tosetti Barolo  noted that it was “1 Pint 8 Fl. Oz.”; an old way of stating the size.

It was shared with Dionysian Members who also brought old wines to review. It was bottled by A.V.A.L. in the Piedmont.

The Barolo was served with an Italian meat tortolini. The color was brick red with lots of brown notes. It was decanted to remove years of sediment and rebottled for dinner one hour before serving. Great to drink summer sunshine from so long ago. In vino veritas.
