This 13% alcohol wine from Sonoma County scored 16+ points on the 20-point Dionysian scale. It cost $5 about 30 years ago. The 1977 Ernie’s Cabernet Sauvignon  special selection , as noted on the label, was smooth as silk. It had leather and some black fruits in the aroma.

Grilled egg plant fries with hot doges and sauerkraut with a Jersey salad laced with hard-boiled egg helped feature the 37 year old wine.

Served with a simple dinner, the wine, my daughter’s birth year, was the feature of discussion, as fine dining events should be. Barry Lawrence of Petaluma in Sonoma County enjoyed this wine years and years ago. Ernie’s sadly, no longer exist. In vino veritas.
