At 12.5% alcohol, costing under $16 back then, the 1985 Conte Molini Gattinara scored 17 Dionysian Points out of a possible 20. It was loaded with fresh road tar (as good Nebbiolo should have) and dried rose petal along with the complexity of an 35 year old Italian wine from the Piedmont. Smoke and fresh new eather.
It had to be decanted just half an hour before dinner. It was served with a pot roast and it paired quite well. I haven’t bought Gattinara in some years, but I should have. In Vino Veritas.
