The 1985 Monsanto Chianti Classico Reserva had 13% alcohol, cost $15.90 on release, and scored 17+ Dionysian points. At 36 years old, the wine was silk. It opened for another half hour after decanting. Sun-dried tomato on the nose. Still garnet with a full amber edge. It’s a D.O.C.G wine.

I gave my granddaughter a 2015 (birth year) of this wine and I know she’ll enjoy it at 21.
We served this one with a pasta dish with mixed pork meats. A+

For decades I’ve considered Monsanto one of the top three Chianti wines. I wish I had more of this one.

As my cellar gets closer to being empty, I try to replace some wines, but not ones I’ll need to wait 30 years for. You, however, should build a wine cellar now for your future. In Vino Veritas.
