Costing under $20 with 12.5% alcohol, the 28 year-old 1990 Badia a Coltibuono Chianti Classico scored 17 points on the 20-point Dionysian scale.

A nose with sun-dried tomato, spice, cigar box, and herbal aromas introduced a soft, medium-bodied food wine.

This wine spent 8 months in wooden casks and the producer said it should age well for five years.

This classic blend of Sangioveto and Canaiolo grapes proved to be a great mature dinner wine.  It married well with a basic pasta with red sauce dinner. I wish I had a few more.  In Vino Veritas.
