With 12.5%  alcohol, the 1990 Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande scored 18+ Dionysian points out of a possible 20. Costing nearly $90, the 26 year old Bordeaux, still needs some time to peak. Cigar box, cassis and spice filled its aroma. The flavors lingered, and there is still enough tannin to go some time long.

!990 was a good year in Bordeaux and although this wine is exceptional now, in a few more years it will be sublime with rack of lamb or and meat dish.

The Merlot made this wine silky. The Cabernet Franc helped with it hint of rose. It was decanted 45 minutes before tasting and paired well with a simple roast. These Comtesse de Lalande  Pichons are great wines.  I’m certain that this could be a 30-year-old wine before it reaches its peak. In vino veritas.
