The 2015 Villa La Vie En Rose from Lionel Osmin has a perfect 12% alcohol for a food-Rose. It scored 16 Dionysian points  and cost just under $10.

Served with roasted chicken, butternut squash with onions, and green & yellow string beans. The Rose was a fine match and refreshed the palate. Spring dishes need color.

It’s made from 100% Negrette grapes, grown and produced in the southwest of France near Toulouse city, just above Spain. The grape entered France by the Crusaders who found it in Cyprus. It seems to be descended from the Mavro grape; a dark red grape that makes big wines.

The wine has a violet, wild strawberry nose and is well balanced. It’s color is light copper-salmon.

This is an example of what I call a Best Buy; high quality – low price. Seek it out and enjoy it all summer long. In vino veritas.

Its pinkish-copper color shouts that spring is here!
