The 1990 Saintsbury Chardonnay from Carneros in California has a perfect 12.9% alcohol, cost under $18, and scored 18 Dionysian points as a 28 year-old white wine.
Deep gold, good acid and linger flower aromas show that the wine was cellared very well.
Saintsbury is in Napa and has long made wines in the European style to go with food. This low alcohol Chardonnay aged far, far better than the newer high alcohol examples will ever do.
Served with Cod, it made the fish dinner a mid-week feast. In Vino Veritas.
