The twenty-four year-old Bordeaux scored 18 Dionysian points out of 20. With 13% alcohol, the 1998 Carruades de Lafite (second label Lafite) cost just under $35 then had a tiny amber edge, no browning, cassis and cedar on its nose.

One of Domaines Barons de Rothschild’s lesser known Bordeaux, but an excellent wine so similar to the first label of Chateau Lafite, and costing less than a quarter of today’s pricing.

Served with lamb chops (of course)
