The 1999 Casa Lapostolle Chardonnay Cuvee Alexandre scored 16 Dionysian points out of 20, had 13% alcohol, and cost under $20 then. It was Burgundy-like with oak, butter, apple-pie notes and covered the entire palate. It was deep gold as expected for a 22 year-old white wine.

Served with a roasted chicken breast and lots of veggies. Great.

My last bottle from the 1999 case. All were excellent over the past nine years. It was fermented in 100% new French Oak Burgundian barrels, which is now too much for my improved taste, but the wine was worth the wait. Had a long creamy finish. In Vino Veritas.
