This white wine from Potugual has 13% alcohol, is made from the Antao Vaz grape,and scored 16+ points on the 20-point Dionysian scale. The 2013 Paulo Laureano Reserve, a DOC from the Alentejo Region in Portugal could trick you into think it’s a basic Burgundy.

It was fermented in all French oak, but not overly done. It has apple, some citrus, good mineral and wet stone notes. It is balanced and an excellent food wine for spring, summer and fall. It matured from deep straw to a pure gold over the past years.

Served with a pork tender loin and sweet potato fries.

It was perfect at 8 years old and excellent at 5, 6 and 7 years old. The Antano Vez grape is only planted in that region and should be planted in America. It’s quite rare. Dionysian Anthy Fisher and I first tasted it with the wine-maker in Princeton, NJ a few years back. We were both impressed with it. In Vino Veritas.
